How To Rekindle Your Sex Life During Menopause

By May 10, 2018Blog, menopause

Welcome to my ‘Weekly Wisdom’ where I will be focusing on rekindling libido during the menopause.

Many women I encounter in the clinic tell me that they feel like they have been switched off from the waist downwards during menopause.  Many of them can’t have an orgasm and over half are suffering from vaginal dryness, sometimes to the point of feeling they are tearing or bleeding.

I understand that when you are going through the menopause, sex can sometimes feel like the last thing you want, but rekindling your libido is so important during this time because it really can have a significant effect on your self-esteem and relationships.

Watch the video below for my tips on how to rekindle your libido during menopause:

Here’s a cheat sheet of my tips:

1. Consume food with naturally occurring oestrogen

The first thing you can do to get your vaginal tissues back into good shape is to make sure you are consuming naturally occurring oestrogen regularly. Soy products, linseeds and red clover pills are all good for this.

2. Eat wholesome food little and often

Make sure you have lots of good nutrients in your food and that you’re eating wholesome food little and often.

3. Use coconut oil to reduce inflammation

Coconut oil can help to soothe your tissues to help with inflammation.

4. Take supplements to boost libido

There are some supplements that help, for example, Lady Prelox which is made from pine bark and other natural ingredients, as well as Horny Goat Weed which have been shown in some trials to raise libido.
