Positive Start to 2023 Part 4

Reclaim your well-being with a Midlife Refuel

Now that you have chosen the natural menopause path, be it self-help or a guided approach, you may still fall into old habits that can impede your progress. But don't worry, this is normal - think of the process as creating new habits to replace old ones, which will help future-proof your health for the years to come.

Over the years, we have heard from many women before starting my programme that they have tried everything, and nothing ever works. In most cases, they have tried a supplement or made a dietary change for a month or less and expect some incredible results. We can guarantee that if you do not give yourself adequate time or cherry-pick (in most cases tweaking your diet or taking a random supplement), you will never achieve the results you so desperately want. You need to follow the whole programme.

To reclaim your well-being and future-proof your health, you must be willing to embrace all of what science shows works for every aspect of menopause health issues. We call it learning to have a ‘Midlife Refuel’. And we promise you that you will never want to return once you experience the benefits.

Getting Your Nutrients in Optimum Range During Menopause

If you have read Maryon’s past blogs or articles in the Daily Mail and Huffington Post or heard one of her many TV or podcast interviews, you will know that she always emphasises the importance of, getting your nutrients in an optimum range. But what does that mean, and why is that important?

As we age, we lose many nutrients due to stress, lifestyle, eating habits, diet or loss of hormones. We know from our National Diet and Nutrition Surveys that billions of women are seriously nutrient-depleted women across the ages. This will not magically rectify itself once we get past menopause. It is only going to get worse unless you learn to refuel. So, before going any further, you must decide if you are willing to put in a little work to feel better and live a long, health-filled life.

Perimenopause Through Postmenopause - You Are What You Eat

If you eat junk, you are going to feel like rubbish. There are no two ways around this fact. That's why it's so important to eat a nutrient-rich diet.

You Don't Need To Exist On Rabbit Food!

A nutrient-rich diet is not just leafy greens, carrots and tomatoes. It is so much more. You can choose from various nuts, such as almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts and peanuts and nut butters, to name a few. Sprinkle them on salads, cooked vegetables and stir-fries to add a bit of rich nuttiness. Avocado is the perfect healthy fat you can smear, spread or dip. Eggs, lean meat, poultry, vegetarian protein and fish help you feel full and give you brainpower and energy to sustain you throughout the day. Stay hydrated with water or calorie-free drinks to keep you refreshed and on top of your game. Also, breaking your meals into smaller portions and recording what you eat will help you stay on track.

If you have some deficiencies, download our nutrition assessment and see where you are nutritionally as a starting point.

Remove Certain Foods/Drinks From Your Diet To Reduce Menopause Symptoms

Take out any foods or drinks that lock onto nutrients and prevent your body from absorbing them. Let’s use the example of wine.

Did you know the tannin in red wine can lock onto nutrients and stop them from being bioavailable to you? So, when you drink red wine with a nutritious meal, the nutrients lock on the tannin and are unavailable to your body, and your nutrient levels remain low.

Phytoestrogens - Mother Nature's Little Secret Gift During Menopause

Mother Nature has given us foods and drinks that contain naturally-occurring oestrogens. What are naturally occurring oestrogens? Foods where the cellular structure is similar to the body's own oestrogens that were circulating before menopause hit. These phytoestrogens are so structurally similar that they can fool our brains into thinking that we have normal circulating oestrogen again. I discuss more naturally occurring oestrogens in our live sessions and explain what is happening in your body during this stage of life.

Use Natural Supplements That Have Been Through Clinical Trials To Manage Your Symptoms

Choosing the correct supplement is a crucial decision for your road to recovery. Millions of supplements are littering the market today, making false promises as they often don’t contain the ingredients listed on the label. First and most importantly, only use standardised and science-based supplements with properly conducted clinical trials. The supplements we recommend are based on medical research and have been shown to be safe and effective.

Not A One-Trick Pony - Supplements For Menopause

In most cases, one supplement will NOT do a magic trick when first starting a programme. You will need a combination of at least two or more to jumpstart the process. Not everyone will benefit from the same combination of supplements. We recommend Fema 45+ UK or Gynovite (US) and Promensil/Red Clover (which contains red clover - naturally occurring oestrogens) to start. We have brought together the most effective supplement in the Midlife Refuel Box in the US.

Exercise, Exercise, Exercise. Those Menopause Symptoms Away

Exercise is excellent for anyone at any age. It doesn’t have to mean you have to run a marathon, but instead, get moving, even if it’s just dancing to your favourite music.  Women who exercise during menopause find it to be a real life changer. Exercise speeds up your metabolism, so you look slimmer and have more energy. It gets you in shape while strengthening and even oxygenates your brain so you can think more clearly and rationally. People who exercise also tend to enjoy an elevated mood due to the endorphin rush in their bodies and lose weight without dieting.

Relaxation has so many benefits: slowing your heart rate, lowering blood pressure, improving your digestion, maintaining normal blood sugar levels, reducing stress hormones, increasing blood flow, and reducing muscle tension, therefore, reducing chronic pain. But did you know that relaxation can reduce your hot flashes too? In some cases, by up to 60 per cent.
