How to deal with the physical symptoms of menopause - Maryon Stewart

Going through menopause you will experience different types of symptoms and I like to break down menopausal symptoms into two categories:

  1. Physical
  2. Mental

Whenever people think of menopause they associate it with the hot flushes and night sweats. But there's much more to it then a hot flush and what amazes me is sometimes we don't even know these changes are related to the menopause.

In this week’s ‘Weekly Wisdom’ I’m focusing on the physical symptoms of menopause.

Here are just a few of the physical symptoms women can experience during the menopause:

    • Changing or irregular periods
    • Hot flushes
    • Night sweats
    • Insomnia
    • Fatigue
    • Anxiety, mood swings, irritability and depression
    • Loss of confidence, feelings of being invisible
    • Changes in libido or sex drive
    • Weight gain
    • Dry skin
    • Vaginal dryness
    • Increased PMS
    • Urinary leakage or urgency
    • Aches and pains in muscles and joints

If you're suffering from any of those symptoms, the main thing to do is to be kind to yourself and make sure that you're eating a really wholesome diet that contains naturally occurring estrogen and get plenty of rest.

Join me next time when I'm going to be talking more about the mental symptoms of menopause.
