What Is The Midlife Switch? - Maryon Stewart

This week I want to focus on helping you understand MY concept of what the midlife switch is because I’ve had a lot of questions on my Facebook group recently about the confusion of what happens to us at midlife and what is associated with going through the menopause.

What should we accept as being part of the menopause transition and what we should be going to our doctor about?

So thinking about this I sat down and I wrote down on a piece of paper the word S.W.I.T.C.H. Obviously this is about the life change, but equally each letter in this word represents what can happen to you at this time of life.

S - stands for stressed because many people feel stressed about the changes and symptoms they experience during menopause

W - stands for washed out because women lack energy and feel completely depleted

I - stands for irritable because changing levels of oestrogen in the body during menopause can affect your mood and increase irritability

T - stands for tired and really not feeling at the top of your game. Maybe you can't sleep at night and you wake up early in the morning feeling nervous making it really hard to concentrate

C - stands for confused because many women find it really hard to concentrate and feel like they've got brain fog and even experience memory loss

H - stands for hormone havoc because we all know during this time our hormones are all over the place, you can't really tell what's going on as you just feel like the victim of your hormones.

Many women buy into the fact that is how their life is going to be and there isn't a possibility of feeling good again. So using the same word again, here are the positive outcomes that happen to patients on my program.

S - stands for sexy and serene because you can actually get your sexy back again

W - stands for wise because you've got so much more knowledge about the way you are feeling and how you can feel good again

I - stands for intuitive because you're learning to listen to your body

T - stands for trusting because you lose the sense of feeling like an alien and learn to trust your body, hormones and emotions again

C - stands for calm and collected instead of feeling hot and bothered and awake half the night

H - stands for happy hormones again and you're back in the driving seat

I suppose what I really want to do is let women know that it is possible to turn things around at midlife. It is possible to feel good again and to be able to get through this transition so that you can feel well and know that you can look after yourself in the longer term and enjoy all these bonus years you have ahead.

Are you feeling demotivated?
Have you lost your mojo?
Are you feeling tired and achy or old before your time?
Are you scared because you can't think straight or lose track of what you were saying mid sentence?
Have you put so much weight on and your clothes are tight?

Does this sound like you? Are you ready for a change?
